9-1-1 Teaser Unveils Season 5 Disaster: The Blackout

Get ready to paint it black, Los Angeles. Since it’s sophomore season, 9-1-1 has had a pattern of beginning each season with a major disaster that raises the stress levels of all Angelenos. From an earthquake to a tsunami to a mudslide, 9-1-1 has covered all of my personal fears.

Now, Season 5 is going for something south of a natural disaster: a blackout.

The hit procedural drama has announced their Season 5 premiere with a teaser of the L.A. skyline before it slowly fades to black. As if my firefighters haven’t suffered enough. The last we saw of our beloved 118 involved Eddie barely surviving getting shot, Nia’s birthmother coming back into her life where Hen and Karen have to learn to live with that, Athena and Bobby’s marriage was on the verge of a collapse, and, to bring things to an even darker place, Maddie finally admitted to Chimney that she really needs professional help.

9-1-1 is setting the stage for a powerful season with… well, not a lot of power, literally. With record-high temperatures in Southern California, how will the 118 family beat the heat and save the day? We’re still dying to know if Hen will leave the 118 for medical school, given that Albert is now the newest member to 118. What about Probie? Is he finally going from A shift to B shift after he caused the jinx? Guess we’ll have to wait to get our answers soon.

9-1-1 is produced by Ryan Murphy and stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Rockmond Dunbar, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, and Corinne Massiah, John Harlan Kim, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, and Gavin McHugh.

You can catch up on 9-1-1 on Hulu here just in time for the Season 5 premiere this fall, only on FOX or the FOX Now app.
