That Kid’s “DRY2WET” Sets Us Up For A McBling Summer

Our favorite Twitter microcelebrity turned hyper pop superstar, That Kid, is back with his second single of the year. “DRY2WET” follows “Full Throttle”, both released very recently, setting us up for the perfect McBling summer.

If “Full Throttle” is the sun, “DRY2WET” is the moon. There’s a darker, more late-night quality to “DRY2WET”: the energy encapsulates after hours, being the last one on the dancefloor, and that sweet spot between disoriented & confident. The chorus is hypnotic and ridiculously catchy, it’ll inevitably get stuck in your head after the first listen.

Not leaving much to the imagination with the lyrics (or the title), there is still a more sophisticated quality to this song. It could be the hazy instrumental or the distorted vocals on the chorus, but it’s evident that That Kid has grown musically. Certainly, there has been growth since his first full-length project (“Taco Bell” will always hold a special place in my heart), but these 2 singles sound different than even his 2021 project. That Kid’s sound is constantly evolving, and soaring to new heights. From his social media, it’s evident that he works on music very consistently, it almost seems like it’s 24/7. His hard work is paying off, as each era seems to be even better than the last.

In September, he’ll be releasing his third full-length project titled “Superstar”, affectionately dubbed “TK3” by the Twitter community. He revealed on Twitter that it will be 13 tracks long, his longest project yet. Additionally, there will be 7 artist features. If these two singles are anything to go by, this era is going to be nothing short of iconic.
