Jeremy Zucker releases his second single of the year, “HONEST,” following his upbeat summer single “18,” with an emotional acoustic ballad about the brink of a relationship.
“HONEST” is a song in which Zucker is honest about his feelings, and he wants his partner to be honest as well, but they’re not delivering.
Throughout the song, Zucker follows a rhyme scheme that makes the song easy to sing along to and catchy. In the chorus, he reflects on the relationship: “I was so sentimental, and you came for my head” / “We were both on the brink, I was holding my breath.” At the end of the chorus, he pleads: “Just be honest with me, babe.”
In a tweet, Zucker stated that this single was his favorite one of all time.
He shared a snippet of the song on Twitter on Tuesday with the caption: “shouts to all my pathological liars.”
No matter the song structure, the nostalgic feeling is still there, leaving listeners reminiscing on the toxic relationships they’ve had.
Even though this song is about a manipulative partner, the song still radiates vibes to where listeners could play it on a road trip or scream the lyrics in their room with the music loud.
Similar to Olivia Rodrigo, Zucker delivers raw emotion when singing about their past relationships that allow listeners to connect with this song.
Overall, “HONEST” is a great ballad to follow up Zucker’s previous single “18,” which showcases his new era’s musical diversity.
Jeremy Zucker is going on their MORE NOISE tour in October 2021.
