POPTIZED: A HISTORY
POPTIZED was launched in 2018 by founder and former editor-in-chief Kariann Tan with the vision of creating an outlet for young people to express their love of pop culture. Our issue covers saw talents like Allie X, Gunnar Gehl, Kero Kero Bonito, Hippo Campus, and Tiny Meat Gang.
When the entertainment industry—along with the rest of the world—came to a halt in March of 2020, POPTIZED followed and was put on an indefinite pause.
Current co-editor-in-chief’s Mehreen Mahida and Alyssa Yung have since taken over POPTIZED and are dedicated to pushing artistry forward.
THE REVIVED POPTIZED
We have since expanded our horizons into the world of pop culture, covering everything from series to film, from book reviews to live photography.
We brought on a fresh team of young visionaries, forming a photography department, a contributing writing staff, and a team of book editors.
We are planting the roots for our 2022 zine relaunch and we are excited to branch out into every facet of media and give a new platform for young visionaries to collaborate, criticize, praise, and create within the world of entertainment—because it is something that we’re passionate about.
We hope you find the same love for this industry that we do, because an appreciation for artistry is still out there, and it’s existing on POPTIZED.
