From scrolling endlessly on Tumblr in 2014 to the sights and sounds of 5 Seconds of Summer to finally catching them live in concert in 2022, words can’t even begin to describe how I felt attending this show. This group of Australian boys have amassed a cult-like following of fans around the world, and I am proudly one of them. On June 18, 2022, 5 Seconds of Summer played a sold-out show at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, California. The bleachers were shaking, the screams were deafening, and, in the words of guitarist Michael Clifford, the crowd was unhinged. This was such a magical night where the band played a perfect mix of both old and new music. I was instantly transported to eighth grade when the first hey of “She Looks So Perfect” came on. Even if you didn’t grow up to the soundtrack of 5 Seconds of Summer, their live performance is truly one that you don’t want to miss. The energy of the band (and the crowd) matched with an impressive production make for an unforgettable live experience!
