Just walking into The Regent Theatre in Los Angeles, you could feel the buzzing of the crowd. Everyone eagerly awaiting the ethereal Japanese Breakfast, some even passing out before she stepped on stage; the energy was electric. I’m not going to lie; about two hours before this show, I was crying while reading her memoir Crying in H Mart, so the good vibes at this show were very much appreciated.
I was lucky enough to catch Japanese Breakfast at a festival a couple of years ago, but that performance was nothing compared to seeing her headline a sold-out crowd. Everyone screaming “Be Sweet” and moshing; the vibes were immaculate.
Michelle Zauner is truly a force to be reckoned with, and she has had a fantastic year to prove it. With a New York Times Bestseller, critically acclaimed album, writing an entire video game soundtrack, and selling out a tour…its safe to say she is not slowing down anytime soon.
